MEET THE TEAM

 

Meet the core members of MAUERHOCKEY. We hope to share our hockey knowledge and experiences with participants to prepare you for the next hockey season and beyond.    
Additional staff may be present at one of our ice sessions at any time.

John Mauermann

Founder

 

Coach Mauermann has coached at the high school level for over 30 years compiling almost 400 wins as a head coach. He began Summer Skills & Drills as a way for youth to improve their hockey skills and further develop hockey in the Southern Wisconsin area. Coaching achievements are highlighted by a WIAA High School State Championship in 1999 as Head Coach of Beloit Memorial. Followed by three sectional championships and two conference championships as Head Coach of the Janesville Bluebirds.

Ross Mauermann

Professional DEL Hockey Player

 

Ross currently plays professionally in DEL for Fischtown Pinquins located in Bremerhaven Germany. As a member of the Janesville Bluebirds high school team he was two time conference player of the year and finalist for "Mr. Hockey" award given to the states top player. He played for the Janesville Jets from 2009-2011 before he went to Providence College. At Providence he led his team in scoring 3 seasons and ithe summer of 2014 he was invited to the New Jersey Devils development camp. He finished he college career captaining the Friars to a D1 NCAA Championship in 2015 and is the record holder for most consecutive games played (156) in the history of Providence College hockey. Ross graduated with a degree in Marketing.

Nick English

Janesville Bluebirds High School Head Coach

 

Nick competed at the AAA hockey level growing up. He has been coaching high school boys and girls hockey for the past 10 years. He started his coaching career in Janesville before spending one season as the Head coach of the Antigo Girls Co-op. He returned to Janesville, in 2013, as a physical education teacher and assistant hockey coach. Coach English helped lead the bluebirds to a trip to WIAA state tournament in 2015.

Alexis Mauermann

Women's Professional player

 

In 2025 Alexis completed her MS in Communication Science and Disorders from the UW Milwaukee.

Alexis played professionally for Djurgårdens IF in Stockholm, Sweden. She was a member of the USA National Team that won the U18 World Championship in 2015. She attended Shattuck St. Mary's, winning three national championships. Followed by a college career at Wisconsin, winning multiple top week and monthly WCHA honors and culminated in winning a D1 NCAA Championship in 2019.

Josh Lehr

Assistant Coach Janesville Bluebirds

 

Currently serving as an assistant coach for the Janesville Bluebirds. In 2023, Coach Lehr helped lead Oregon to a runner up finish in the D2 WIAA State Championship. Josh personally competed at the junior and collegiate levels as a goalie. He has been coaching and evaluating goalies since 2009, through various programs including High Performace Goaltending, WAHA, and Team Wisconsin. He is a Physical Therapist at Mercyhealth in Janesville. 

Lordanthony Grissom 

Professional Player ECHL

 

Lordanthony is from Detroit, Michigan, and is currently a professional player for the Jacksonville Icemen in the ECHL. Known as LA, he has spent the last four seasons in the ECHL and previously won an SPHL championship with the Peoria Rivermen. He played college hockey at DIII Aurora University, where he served as a team captain for four out of five seasons. Many in the Southern Wisconsin  area recognize him from his two seasons with the Janesville Jets.

Kelly Millins
Assistant Coach Wilkes University 

 

Currently Wilkes University women’s ice hockey program Assistant Coach. From 2019-2024 she played at NCAA Division III Elmira college. She helped the team helping the team earn NCAA National Runner up honors in 2024, a National Finalist in 2022 . 2015-2017 Kelly Suited up for Fenwick High School in Oak Park, Illinois, and Lead fenwick to its first-ever state championship and earning All-State accolades. She also spent time with and Team Illinois and Chicago Young Americans.

 

Kelly graduated Elmira with a bachelor’s degree in biology in 2023 and earned her master’s degree in general management in 2024.
